Not your everyDAY Anery corn snake, this 38″ male is also Red Mask (aka: Red Factor).  Additionally he is het Amel and possibly het Motley, making him a great potential for reproducing deeply-colored Salmon Snows.  His $250.00 price includes

Snake of the Day 03-28-14

Show and Tell:

SMR female ID number 1167 (shamefully inadequate name for such a lovely Pied-sided Bloodred) showing off 24 eggs she laid on March 17, 2014.  They will hatch in approximately 60 DAYs.  Ovality of the eggs that are “dented” from modest dehydration will be restored after several DAYs in their incubation medium.

Show and Tell

This is the “other” Banded Charcoal mentioned on SMR SOTD and SMR FaceBook posts on March 14, 2014.  Here, she shows off her “egg colors” prior to laying eggs.

Snake of the Day 03-26-14

This 44″ male Striped Tessera hatched in 2010.  One of his parents was an Ultramel so he is technically considered an inter-species hybrid.  His $260.00 price includes  Now Sold !

One of the obvious goals of combining the Ultra gene mutation with the Tessera gene mutation was to produce a corn snake product that can reproduce both genes in the first F1 out-crossed generation.  Because the Ultra gene is co-dominant to Amel and the Tessera gene is dominant to ANY corn snake,  breeding this snake to any Amel-type corn will result in a proportion of the progeny being both Ultramel AND Tessera in the same snake (in addition to whatever other gene mutations are shared by both parents). No waiting one extra generation to see the compound phenotype of mutants that are recessive to wild type.

He is currently in brumation where he has been cold since December 22, 2013.

SHOW AND TELL:

Most snakes that are about to shed are said to be “in the blue“, so-termed for the color rendered by separation of the outer skin generation soon to be sloughed.  Blue Motleys (Dilute Anery Motleys) take that phrase to a new level.  The gene mutation, Dilute, that is added to–in this case Anery Motleys–renders an appearance similar to the gene mutation that gives some dogs like Shetland Sheepdogs their added namesake color; Blue Merle.

SHOW AND TELL:

Oops!  Even veteran snake breeders can be fooled from time to time.  This female p/s Bloodred thankfully deposited her second 2014 egg clutch outside her water bowl because I failed to record her pre-lay shed and consequently wasn’t checking daily for eggs.  Read more and see pic of them 10 DAYs after rehydration with semi-damp sphagnum moss.

Thank you, John and Bridgett Bernardi for this beautiful Terra Cotta Cornsnake.  This 36″ young male Bloodred Motley will be virtually pattern-less at maturity, but I do love the name, Terra Cotta they chose for this “old-school” line of Bloodreds.  His $250.00 price includes
