One of the obvious goals of combining the Ultra gene mutation with the Tessera gene mutation was to produce a corn snake product that can reproduce both genes in the first F1 out-crossed generation. Because the Ultra gene is co-dominant to Amel and the Tessera gene is dominant to ANY corn snake, breeding this snake to any Amel-type corn will result in a proportion of the progeny being both Ultramel AND Tessera in the same snake (in addition to whatever other gene mutations are shared by both parents). No waiting one extra generation to see the compound phenotype of mutants that are recessive to wild type.
