Snake of the Day 07-15-14

Show & Tell

Yummmmmy brain candy, huh?  Thank you, Catherine Turley, for the beautiful 2014 Sunrise Amel Striped Motleys.  Don’t we all wish they would not change colors with maturity, but the Sunrise mutation always dramatically alters colors from the DAY they hatch as early as mere weeks of age.  A few weeks thereafter, the reds in this snake will intensify, rendering a deeply red/orange Amel Striped Motley.  Ryan and I still pray for the DAY one will hold baby color.  Ryan M, you know who you are.  Bonus Pic . . .

This 2014 female aberrant Buf Tessera corn snake has a lot to offer corn snake breeders.  Because both of her obvious mutations (Buf and Tessera) are dominant to wild-type, both can be demonstrated in the first generation progeny of breeding this snake to another.  No waiting two generations to see target product.  Her $425.00 price includes   She is also 50% possibly het Amel and I particularly like the wide and contiguous stripe on her tail (barely visible in this pic).  Bonus Pic . . .

2012 male Corn Snake from parents, Kastanie & Java Motley.  Thank you, Catherine Turley for sending this stunning male–and two of his sisters–back to me after so much TLC and feeding on your part.  That trio was sold to Catherine as hatchlings, and she did a super job of raising them.

SHOW & TELL

Thanks again, Chip Bridges, for this awesome Amel Sunrise Striped Motley corn.  At just under two years of age now, she is modestly beginning to reveal some random de-pigmentation of scales that bound her pattern margins. In a few years, there will be so many de-pigmented (white) scales, they will be the first thing one notices upon first seeing her.    Bonus Pic . . .

I recently acquired this snake that was advertised to be of Buttermint origin. I feel safe calling it a Buttermint (Butter Cinder), but perhaps it is more than that? Evaluation breeding trials beginning soon.
