Snake of the Day 11-28-16

Show & Tell

These two snakes have no recent historical familial relationship, but my goal was to use a Butter mutant for color comparison, because most Butters generally have the same yellow expression, compared to other corn snake color mutants. The orange corn in this picture is the Scaleless snake Chip Bridges produced two years ago, that we believe to be a Scaleless Lavender. This is another update pic, since he exhibits more saturated orange every time I see him lately. In 2017, I will breed him to a Lavender-type to prove (or disprove) that he is actually a Lavender mutant. Surely the way he hatched so deeply blue is enough evidence (unlike ANY corn snake ever), but since we tend to rely on our own eyes to make color judgments, genetic proof will bolster confidence about the way the missing outer dermal layers forbade expression of blue?  REMINDER  PIC
