Snake of the Day 01-21-15

Growth update:  Not much to say yet about this 2014 Bloodred Tessera from the pairing of two snakes (one being Tessera) from Rich Hume’s “white-sided Striped Granite”.  I realize that snake has not been proven to have any new mutations, so it’s more accurately called an extreme Pied-sided Granite.  With a wee bit of lateral white on this one, it’s at least safe to say that it’s a P/S Bloodred Tessera, but since the grandsire (the Granite with all-white lower laterals) didn’t hatch that way, no way to know how this one will mature?  I’ll keep everyone posted.

Snake of the Day 01-18-15

This male Buttermint (Amel Caramel Cinder OR Peppermint Caramel) corn snake will be one of the busiest males on the SMR 2015 breeding roster this year.

Snake of the Day 01-17-15

This 2014 female Super Striped Sunglow Motley corn is about 15″ long, eating frozen/thawed pinky mice.  She has both copies of the Red Mask mutation so her colors are bright now and will be much bolder as an adult.

Snake of the Day 01-16-15

This 2013 female Buf corn is now 27″ long, eating frozen/thawed hopper mice.  Her parents consisted of a Buf and an Extreme Okeetee.  Not just another pretty face, because her mutation is dominant to wild-type, pairing her with non-Buf Extreme Okeetees could render some amazing corns.

Snake of the Day 01-15-15

This 2013 male P/S Bloodred Corn has very low expression of lateral white.  He is currently 25″ long, eating frozen/thawed large fuzzy or small hopper mice.

Snake of the Day 01-13-15

This 2014 male Charcoal Tessera is possibly a Pewter Tessera.  Some of his siblings included Pewter Tesseras, but his belly markings do not look like typical Pewter Tesseras.  Therefore, if he is not a Pewter Tessera he is a Charcoal Tessera Het for Diffused/Bloodred.

Snake of the Day 01-12-15

This 2014 male Western Hognose has never refused an unaltered frozen/thawed pinky mouse.  He is het for the mutation, Toffee Belly.  He is about nine inches long now, eating me outta mouse and home.
