This adult High-white Reverse Okeetee female satisfies the supreme goal of this selectively-bred Amel corn. Only through selective-breeding, it is VERY difficult to achieve this level and quality of white without “clutter” of other colors. The red lace you see is where the white scales meet mostly red skin beneath.

Same snake in different pose.
Show & Tell

This adult High-white Reverse Okeetee female isn’t the typical High-white. Orange markings set her apart from the classic Red and White members of this selectively-bred Amel morph. This one doesn’t seem as white as most because there is so much yellow. See tomorrow’s S.O.T.D. for the perfect High-white. The only gene mutation in this snake is Amel (unless the yellow borders are someDAY proven to be caused by a mutation?).

This 2012 female Amel is 43″ long, eating frozen/thawed adult mice. She is from a “pet” project of mine years ago producing high yellow Amels from the pairing of Sunglow Motleys to Butters. Hence, this one is het for Caramel (therefore, Butter) and Motley. She brumated from mid-November, 2014 to mid-February, 2015 so she is almost ready (if not NOW ready) to wed? This 2013 female Buf is 36″ long, eating frozen/thawed hopper mice. The inherent value of Buf mutants is that their mutation is dominant to wild-type, so no waiting two generations to reproduce this mutation. She was brumated from November 20, 2014, to March 10, 2015, so she will be receptive to a male very soon. Her $295.00 price includes includes FREE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING

This 2013 female Tessera is not quite as pattern-shattered as the one featured yesterDAY, but quite the looker. She is 35″ long, eating frozen/thawed hopper mice. Her $295.00 price includes FREE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING

2013 Leucistic and Visual-Het Leucistic Gray-banded Kingsnakes (Lampropeltis alterna). As detailed in previous SOTD and daily SMR FaceBook features, this Visual Het Grayband demonstrates a Hypo-esque look that is common in snakes that are het for the gene mutation, Leucism. In fact, the inheritance of most Leucistic serpents is dominant to wild-type (not recessive) and therefore most F1 out-crossed progeny (hets) have a pale hypomelanistic phenotype similar to this Gray-banded King. Aside from the inherent value of the pattern-less and color-less Leucistic Alterna, the visual-hets are stand-alone beautiful morphs. . . .

Two of our 2013 Leucistic Gray-banded Kingsnakes (Lampropeltis alterna). The orange one in the center is the one I feature every few months to show the changing of his orange “blush” of color. Not nearly as colorful as their nominate form, leucistic mutants of this species are none-the-less rare in our hobby.
