DAY071013bbb

I suspect most of you out there are growing tired of seeing hatchling corns, but it’s the newest and potentially most interesting camera fodder this time of year. Taking all the photo ops I can while they’re fresh.  This group I showed you a few DAYs ago before they had shed.  They are from a Tessera x Tessera pairing and both were obviously het for Striped Anery. Looks like the pale Anery in the center of this pile (left image) is a Striped Ghost Tessera.  Again pic’d in the right image).  It’s possible that some of these could be Tessera Homozygote (aka: Super Form) mutants?

Non-Tessera siblings of Tesseras are almost always amazingly perfect examples of their respective phenotype.

These Motleys (Natural- and Anery-colored) demonstrate their superior Motley pattern and super-rich coloration.

DAY070713--1-7

Shooting images like this (subjects NOT in repose) could make a person old before their time.  Those of you who have shot groups of hatchling corns know what I mean.   This is a brood of corns from a pair of Plasmas (Lavender Bloodreds) I got from John Finsterwald (Zorro) a few years ago.  Both parents are het for Charcoal and Hypo, but some of these babies are not as easy to identify as I’d envisioned.  It’s almost easy to discern the Hypo Plasmas, and some of the Lavender Pewters are ALMOST obvious.  Well . . . . in short . . . . I have NO idea who’s who.  Since I’ve seen some Hypo Plasmas that were darker than non Hypo Plasmas, and vice-versa, I’m not so concerned with distinguishing between those.  It’s the Charcoal phenotypes I’m interested in identifying.  Hopefully, the reddish pupils of most Lavender types will be trumped by the dark eyes of Charcoals – in the target morph compounds?  I’ll be soliciting Zorro’s assistance in identification, but if anyone else has experience with hatching similar Plasma+Charcoal mutant compounds, I’m all eyes and ears.  Send your opinions to Cornsnakes@aol.com.  Advanced thanks to those who can identify visual markers on these neonatal corns.

A few different colors of Tesseras (and non-Tessera) siblings.  Morphs that can be seen are Anery Tesseras, Charcoal Tessera, Amel Tesseras, Tessera, Snow, and Blizzard.   Parents of this brood are a Tessera Het Blizzard & Snow X a Blizzard Het Snow.

Sunglow Motleys have always been the deepest colored of all our Amel corn snake morphs over the years.

The Snow Sunglow Motleys in this brood will mature to have rather pink/orange coloration that will appear

to be barely visible just under the white surface of the markings.

Pictured is some of a brood from pairing Butter Motley Het Sunkissed X Amel Sunkissed Motley.  Seen here are all motleys, both Sunkissed and Amel Sunkissed.  My goal recently in the realm of Sunkissed mutants is to try to produce classic Motley pattern.  Most of the Sunkissed Motley-types in the hobby toDAY exhibit little of what we’ve all come to know as classic Motley pattern.  Other than trying to restore the classic Motley body pattern with circles of ground zone color down the back that are mostly connected, I’m trying to get Sunkissed Motleys back to the classic belly that is devoid of checkering on most Motley mutants that are not Sunkissed.  Many Sunkissed Motleys have partial belly checkering, albeit sporatic and low in volume.

DAY070113r

This lil Tessera should be named RUDOLF for the cute red tail tip.  Okay, okay.  In corn snake jargin, Reverse Rudolph since it’s red on the south end of the snake.  Haven’t yet checked to see if it’s a HE or a SHE, but after it sheds in a few DAYs, I’ll see if the name will be gender-appropriate (presuming that Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer actually was a HE)?  Regardless of tail or name, it’s a brightly-colored Tessera.  Look what a significant meal the yolk is?  It’s one DAY old in this pic and it looks as if it just wolfed down a large pinky mouse.
