Snake of the Day 09-24-13

This triple mutant Scaleless Hypo Sunkissed Corn Snake demonstrates how the color beauty of some snakes is hiding beneath their scaled armor.

Note the atypically small and rounded scales that show as pale white spots here and there. There are also white and orange scales on the face.

This 50″ long adult female corn snake is the result of pairing a Butter Corn with an Ultramel Motley Corn.  She is therefore het for at least Motley, Caramel, and either Ultra or Amel.  This year, she produced 43 fertile eggs in two clutches, all of which hatched normally and healthfully.

Most of the back 1/3 of this 2013 Scaleless Anery corn is covered with atypically small and round scales that almost
resemble decorative beads.  That is not water you see reflecting light.  It’s the dramatic compound contour of the less-flattened
scales reflecting the camera flash.   This specimen begs the question, “are Scaleless and Micro-pave corn mutations closely related?“.
