Thank you, Travis and John (TRAVIS WHISLER REPTILES) for this beautiful 2017 LEMON (Hypo Sunkissed Caramel) corn snake that is het for Amel.  I can’t wait to see the yellow on this snake, when mature.

This male Okeetee is a siblings of the eXtreme Reverse Okeetee Tessera featured as the SOTD on February 9, 2018.  He is, of course, het for Amel and the RedZep “?gene?”.  I love the ill-defined black saddle margins that render a pixelated look closer to the tail.  Thanks for doing this cross for us, Tony Dongarra/Howie Sherman.  . . .

This beautiful Anery-type corn is the 2nd generation product of pairing two snakes I acquired long ago from Nancy Wimer (thank you, Nancy).  Nancy sent a beautiful adult Anery Motley and an adult Charcoal that I bred to get many Anery babies.  Breeding just about any two of them together yielded one like toDAY’s featured snake in each brood.  In addition to Snows, Aneries, Charcoals and Charcoal Aneries, there was just one each season like this one.  Also, none of the others had any pink on them.  The pink speaks for itself (surely one of the red-modifying gene mutations?), but I also suspect that this one (and her predecessors from other seasons) is both Charcoal and Anery?  Trials should reveal what she is hiding?  Bonus PIC from 08-28-15 . . .

Not just another beautiful eXtreme Reverse Okeetee Tessera, the sire of this one is a RedZep that was bred to a SMR female eXtreme Okeetee Tessera.  Thanks for doing this cross for both of us, Tony Dongarra/Howie Sherman.

One somewhat overlooked–but vital–asset of a SMR Charcoal Terrazzos is that regardless of what color is mixed with these, their base genes are only a couple of generations from their wild-caught Key Cornsnake ancestors.  Important to other corn snake projects because the original BOYD LINE stock was/still is known to have low contrast between pattern and ground zones AND most of their upper-body pattern is largely relegated to the anterior zone from the neck, spreading tail-ward.  This facilitates the potential to make nearly stripe-less Terrazzos, if you don’t count what gave them their first hobby name, Granite; random scattering of flecks of color almost everywhere on their bodies?   Bonus PIC . . .

Not easily captured via photography (but I think I actually nailed it), the reds on this corn are very atypical for even an Amel with Fire (Amel Bloodred) parentage (sire was Bloodred Het Amel–from Cayenne Fire Line)?   I can’t wait to see how this one looks as an adult.  BTW, “yes”, it does remind me of a Strawberry?   BELLY PIC . . .

Three beautiful monochromatic corn snake mutants produced by John Finsterwald of ColoradoCorns.com.  Thanks John for these amazing corns.  The palest is a Dilute Hypo Pewter, darkest is the Pewter and the last one is a Hypo Pewter.    Bonus PIC . . .
