Snake of the Day 05-05-18

Show & Tell

Circa 2014, two Sunrise Amel corn snake mutants at around three months of age.  One is obviously a Sunrise Amel Tessera.  The SUNRISE mutation name derives from how dramatically (and quickly) they change from looking pale and lackluster, to being predominantly red-orange Amels (parallel to the transformation of a morning sunrise beginning with a blush of color, followed by deeply rich colors).  The piercing orange color exhibition seen here will not last long. In mere weeks both of these snakes will appear–color wise–to be essentially classic Amel corns.  Strong red will nearly supplant the orange color zones a few months later, continuing to saturate through maturity.  I should have 2018 hatchling Sunrise Amel corns for sale later this summer.

Show & Tell

Owned by Catherine Turley, this beautiful Caramel Bloodred (from Key Corn stock) laying her first 2018 clutch of eggs.  I only breed the males to each female once, so I get fewer eggs than most breeders.  These should begin hatching 63 DAYs from the DAY they were laid; April 29, 2018.

Snake of the Day 04-21-18

Show & Tell

This 2016 Boot Key Corn Snake was produced by Dr. Orlando Diaz.  While much more yellow than her siblings, the lighting in the second pic rendered a little more yellow than she actually has.  The first pic (above) is almost exactly her true colors (though every computer and monitor renders colors differently).   . . .
