Snake of the Day 11-10-18

Show & Tell

Some serious banding going on in these two 2018 Amels from the pairing of two Miami Okeetee corns that were both–obviously–het for Amel.  In corns we’re not exactly there yet, but eventually we should have some corns with ringed triads that will resemble banding on milk snakes?  The ground zone colors on this gender pair won’t be white, but it will be interesting to see how the triads render (the pale gray blotch borders will be stark white in another year or so), rendering interesting color contrasts?  This is the only pair I kept this year, so a few lucky customers each out there got one of these gems earlier this season.  To you who got those, please, periodically share pix of them with us.

One of our adult Striped Bloodred corn snakes here at South Mountain Reptiles (SMR). BTW, you don’t think it’s too obvious that I use frying pan lids to calm my snakes before taking their pictures, do you?

Snake of the Day 11-15-18

Show & Tell

This 2017 “Anery Okeetee” is the product of the pairing of a Sunkissed Anery to an Ultramel Anery.  Note the early (tender age) expression of gold that will surely spread to most of the body in a few years?  Can any of your snake keepers out there identify the three small black dots between the top two segments of the pinky finger of my hand, just to the right of the snake’s head?  Hint: the equidistant spacing between them should be a good clue.
