 DAY051413
The 2013 mate of this German Kastanie is an unrelated German Kastanie.  Because this corn snake
mutation was discovered and therefore bred longer in Europe than we have been breeding them here,
it has the more common general overall coloration of Kastanie Mutants bred in Europe.  The red head
is much more common in those bred in Europe than many of the ones we have produced in the past few
years in the U.S..  Eggs from SMR German and American Kastanie Mutants will begin hatching in late June.

 DAY053013bb

Naturally, the first 2013 SMR eggs to hatch WOULD be Palmettos.  Left — excerpt of a clutch of 18 eggs from a visual Palmetto bred to a Palmetto heterozygote.  Right — the first palmetto out of its egg showing off his/her egg toof.  The large color spots on the back are flakes of the incubation medium, vermiculite.  The off-color zones that appear to encompass more than one scale are places where moisture is trapped between scales of the two upper-most skin layers (the new and old epidermal generations).  Very few color specks are visible on Palmettos at this age, but the color flecks that ARE visible now will saturate with respective colors, and new ones will gradually appear and saturate throughout maturity.

 DAY051513ccc
Our Scaleless Anery from Stephane Rosselle in France was very busy this year at SMR.  He bred several different color
and pattern mutants, including at least one female Tessera.  Eggs are expected to hatch in early July, so we will have
many corns for sale this year that are het for Scaleless, Anery, and other colors and patterns.

 DAY053113c55

Left — the adult Palmetto father of the hatchling on the right.  Right — the first 2013 Palmetto corn snake out of her egg — which was S.O.T.D. yesterDAY. Of course, no two Palmettos are alike, but when mature, this one DAY-old hatchling should have as much (if not more) color than her father.  The father was as pink and feature-less as this hatchling when he was her age.  In the bubble view, note the egg tooth which hatchling snakes use to cut out of their eggs.  The egg tooth usually wears off within hours of emergence from their eggs.

sired eggs from some Reverse Okeetees and other interesting project females. Eggs from them
will be hatching in late June and ready for shipping in July.

This male Anery Motley is an F1 from the pairing of a Salmon Snow Motley to an Pink Anery Motley.  He has a slight Hurricane Motley pattern so some of the progeny of this pair will inherit that pattern variation. Since the female here is a Salmon Snow Het for Motley, the Salmon colors in most of the babies should be off the charts.  Eggs are expected to hatch in a few short weeks.

Another interesting project involving the male Anery Scaleless corn from Stephane Rosselle in France is
this beautiful Striped Butter.  Therefore, hatchlings from this pairing will obviously be het for Scaleless,
Anery, Caramel, Amel. and Stripe.  Some of those hatchlings will be for sale in July.  Since Scaleless
mutants of corns have dramatically saturated colors, imagine the beauty of Scaleless Butters??

This pair of beautiful Pied-sided Bloodreds graced us with a nice clutch of eggs that will hatch in a few weeks.  We should have plenty of nice hatchlings, most of which will look like one or both of their parents.
