This adult Palmetto Corn (and perhaps two others) reached the age of three this year. A blush of yellow is starting to become more and more obvious as some of them mature. I noted a little of it on this female last year and recall thinking how much it looked like a dusting of pollen. This year, there is perhaps 50% yellow than last year. Surely this is exhibition of Carotenoid yellow that is retained from their rodent diet, like we see in so many Anery and Snow corn snake mutants. This is obviously not to say that it only occurs in those mutations (and obviously this one) but it is perhaps just more obvious in these mutants. What other surprises will this amazing Palmetto gene mutation show us next? S . . .
